Tree Canopy Project
Following the success of our Community Allotment, we are setting up a new Tree Canopy Project in our woodlands on Rydens Road in Walton on Thames.
Overseen by Karen, our Green Spaces Manager, this community woodland project will give local residents the opportunity to get involved in three different activities:
Adult and children’s forest schools
The children’s forest school is already underway, delivered by Rewilding Forest School, who run sessions for children throughout the year.
The adult forest school will be delivered by local Social Prescribers who will offer a range of practical and creative woodland activities.
Local community groups will also be able to use the space for therapeutic activities.
Tree warden volunteer scheme
The space will also be used as a tree nursery and base for the Elmbridge Tree Warden Scheme who organise tree planting days and a programme of aftercare for newly planted trees.
A community allotment
There will also be space for a new community allotment which will be used by four local charities on a rotation basis to run therapeutic gardening schemes.
Have your say…
We have applied to Your Surrey Fund to support the project and are through to the next round! Now it's time to have your say.
