When Anna and her sister lost their mum, they were adopted by their aunt and Anna was enrolled in a school nearby.
Mary, their aunt, hadn’t been working much because of Coronavirus and was worried about covering the cost of a new uniform for Anna.
“I recently adopted the girls after they lost their mother and then Coronavirus hit, making this year the hardest year of all. We have relied pretty much on grants from the government but this is not enough for the basics, let alone the cost of the uniform.”
Mary knew her niece was feeling anxious about starting her new school and was worried what the impact of not having a new uniform, and looking different from the other children, would have on her.
Through the school’s Opportunities Fund provided by Walton Charity, Mary was given vouchers to help cover the cost of a new uniform and school shoes, taking away the worry of saving enough money before the new school year started.
“Anna is an anxious child anyway, but she looked so confident and proud in her new uniform. I cannot thank you enough. This is a truly great start to her new school.”
